Yeah, Roller skates are (imo) the best pre-HM movement item in vanilla. They're so good, and having boots doesn't effect your max speed at all, so you can just equip a bottle and have an extra accessory for whatever you want. it's awesome.

1:17:00 mage is actually really good early game but most people don’t know it, it is difficult to get a starter weapon, if your unlucky with wand of sparking, you can still get vile thorn, if your still unlucky, you just need to grind to get a gem staff, but they buffed thunder zapper, and it’s really solid, and you can get demon scythe pre boss as well. Jungle armor is also pretty boss, and you can use it all the way until wof, or opt for meteorite for infinite mana gun
Early duke strat is always grav pots no? Just loop in a diamond noting where nadoes spawn and king slime/pogo to dodge down if he’s too close.
Also tempest is pure dogshit but I enjoy it it’s very nice for general exploration but can’t hit boss for shit lmaooo. Blade/sanguine for eol then prisma

As someone who DID whip stack (with only one or two, I’m not a psycho with a full hotbar of whips), this update really hurt. It’s not the tag damage that was fun for me, it was combining the extra effects from whips. I’d be fine if they just made whatever the highest tag damage is take priority, but let get buffs from different whips like you can with other classes 😭
The grind-y potion stuff is exactly why I play almost exclusively on Journey mode nowadays. You can always hack the difficult as high as you want it, but you have much better tools to avoid the grind that often kills my terraria playthroughs. Less grind means more time for building or doing goofy stuff, instead of only trying to get the meta loadouts to get from A to B.

Im at 250 hours on terraria, only beat the game once basically a year ago. Currently getting farmed by duke after getting the mount, typhoon, and bubble gun while also having empress wings. I am absolutely struggling at vanilla terraria but someday i hope to do modded lol
