the hat rack is sadly 3 blocks wide, 4 blocks all, and takes up even the empty space. You would need to move the work bench over one block to the left to fit it there specifically.

Keep in mind there’s no custom grid for any furnitune, what I mean is that all of them are just squares that occupy all the height and width of the asset, so the workbench is the problem.

Honestly wish items had non-rectangular shapes when it makes sense. This could easily be

Doesn’t change much for most people, but at least it adds freedom. Then just make the base not cross the block boarder. (Tbh doesn’t really matter if it does just cut it off if it would interact with a block or smth)

Objects in terraria are always rectangles. Even if it looks like there should be space it will always be as wide as the widest point and as tall as the tallest point.
