(Or at least I think it’s the jungle.) Do they not spawn here? Did I place my rooms incorrectly? I’ve been hanging around the area for days.
I know it says no game help posts but I can’t find an answer anywhere, sorry. This game is awesome but it’s really confusing going into it totally blind.

Too close to the crimson, NPCs move out if an evil biome is nearby.
[Here is the official wiki](https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Guide:Getting_started), maybe go poke about on there, or just bother the Guide a bunch.
NPCs only spawn into the world when you meet their unlock requirements. The Guide will give you hints about what sort of requirements they might need, but generally accumulating resources, fighting bosses, and exploring are the big things to do. Once they’re spawned in (and rescued if necessary – a lot of NPCs have gotten themselves tied up in dangerous places!), then they’ll move into an available house.
(also, a tip: NPCs have a happiness meter, which affects the prices of their services. If there are more than 3 NPC houses in a close radius, they’ll take a pretty significant happiness debuff due to overcrowding. Also, you can buy a kind of item called a Pylon from happy NPCs, and that’ll let you teleport to other pylons, so setting up multiple outposts in different biomes is a pretty good idea once you’ve got a few NPCs.)
i think you already got your answer, but for the future, you can click the house icon on the right of your inventory, then the question mark and click on your build. it’ll tell you why it isn’t suitable
“First time player” Goodluck after beating WoF. Village in Jungle/Corruption biome is straight up hell hybrid biome in hardmode
I saw the crimson tip which still reigns true, you may not have progressed enough to have people move in. They appear after certain check points of progress like killing certain bosses, going in the dungeon, or finding them in their specific biomes. Best of luck and have fun.
