So you leave the mines everytime the ore is ready to refill it? Or just put ore in on your way to the mines and collect it when you leave?
Both ways are really inefficient.

I completely disagree with this. Smelting isn’t so essential or dire that it needs to be started immediately. Besides you now have to go to the mines to get your bars.
It’s better to set it and forget it at the farm. That way I can reload the furnace when I am walking by and notice it is ready. Also I can throw some ore in before bed and wake up to a finished product.

No furnaces go in the processing shed, which is next to the keg shed, preserves shed, and storage shed

It’s even more efficient to sleep in the skull cave and then smelt all the ores in the farm after someone drags you back hime
