Actually it's pretty easy to make a corrupt or crimson desert, the eye of cthulhu drops the seeds and by hard mode you should be able to kill it easily. Just place some dirt blocks, put the seeds in, then surround those blocks with a lot of sand blocks then wait a bit and boom, you have a corrupt/crimson desert, same thing if you need a hallow desert but you get the seeds from dryad
In all honesty I always craft combination of accessories, because I can just seperate it with Shimmer and never waste it anymore. So obsidian horseshoe can be crafted if you have nothing else.
You don't need a full crimson/hallow desert, you only need a few blocks of pearlsand and crimsand in order to spawn the crimson and hallow enemies. If you build up into the sky a bit then build a big platform and place some crim/pearlsand just off screen they'll eventually start spawning. It's really easy to do and definitely worth it, the dao of pow is great.
Itās really not that hard to get dark and light shards. Making an infected desert is easy and also I find the deserts tend to be in the path of the āVā
but the obsidian horseshoe actually lets you craft the obsidian terra toilet which can one-shot the moon lord you FOOL and also i somehow wasn't mentioned despite being the biggest terra fart kart glazerš

Such a waste of potential with the obsidian horseshoe. All u need to do is make a obsidian horseshoe balloon and it will be useful

Depending on how your world evils generate, it can be easy to get them early. That or use a seed with two deserts
I remember having both desert variations was common for my worlds but not anymore
I love the fairy bell, back then there weren't really good light pet options so the bell was my go to before getting the wisp
