Why do so many people in town dislike Linus? He’s such a sweetheart…😭

At the Moonlight Jellies festival, I noticed everyone else was gathered together, but Linus was off by himself in a corner, and it honestly made me sad.😢

And then there’s that earlier scene where George accuses him of going through the trash… I felt so bad for Linus during that. He really doesn’t deserve that treatment.💔

And honestly, I feel like he’s just so adorable too. The way he stands there all by himself, he looks like a little figurine or something.🥺💕 I genuinely don’t understand how people can be so cold to someone who’s that kind and adorable…😭😭

You’re misreading the trash scene. George thinks it’s a raccoon that’s been going through his trash and apparently making a mess, but it’s actually Linus. And while I don’t think he deserves to be ridiculed or anything for going through trash, if he is leaving a mess, George is justified in being irritated – but as I said, he’s not mad at Linus. He’s mad at raccoons.

And honestly, I feel like a lot of Linus’s “the townspeople don’t like me” is his own misconception. Penny speaks positively about him, and Robin’s cut scene with him is positive. Nobody else mentions him in a negative way. And in the second Feast of the Winter Star festival, Lewis outright invites him to join his table. It really seems like a case of Linus has been treated badly in the past, so he assumes the people of Pelican Town will treat him badly, but there’s no textual evidence of it, and it’s out of character for a lot of them. I can’t see Leah, for example, having any issues with someone like him.

  2. Most of the time during the festivals people mention that they don’t know why he’s standing off to the side. He gets invited to Sam’s concert, during the luau some villagers say his cooking smells good

  3. he doesn’t even want to live in a house and he still gets dragged to all these mandatory events

Nobody really has any negative feelings toward Linus at all. George thinks he is asking you to chase a raccoon out of his yard, a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

Linus has an enormous victim complex, he’s clearly extremely self-conscious about his lifestyle and the way he is perceived by others.
