Doesn’t matter if it’s a single dust sprite or a hundred serpents, nothing can kill you faster thab you can eat (in singleplayer).
Salads are cheap at Gus and you can buy hundreds in a few seconds. Some people use cheese, but that would involve getting barns, cows, milking them, make cheese … A lot more effort for the same result.
In multiplayer the game doesn’t pause while you eat, so there it could actually get dangerous if you get swarmed. But I never tried coop, so no idea.

Like the other comment says, food. You always have to have food in skull caverns. Pale broth is good, some people love bringing cheese (not me though), early game I’ll even bring sashimi. Whatever works, but food.

With two of them you take ten less damage from every hit, likely cutting their damage in half or less.
