By participating and by building cool stuff, Roblox members can earn specialty badges as well as Roblox currency called robux/premium currency. They can use robux/premium currency to shop at the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories

I think they're just doing all this as a strategy to promote some other gaming platform. Because no one can be this stupid to ruin a huge platform just for nothing like this.

Now this is an interesting thing. Recently Roblox sold the age verification data to governments around the world for money, and it was never really for ‘safety’.
The only real downside is the chat restrictions, but that will likely be improved once Roblox updates the system for older users, so people will be able to talk with a lot more players online.
The best part is definitely the subscription — it’s only $5 a month. A single coffee at Starbucks costs more than that. For that price, you get instant Robux transactions without extra fees, plus a 20% discount on all transactions. It may not seem huge if you only spend 100 Robux, but imagine buying a limited item for 1.5 million Robux with a 20% discount — that’s massive.
