  1. I get what you mean with the shadowflame knife. It is the best melee weapon for the mechanicals and, comparing to other classes, it is the earliest you get your optimal weapon. But the DPS isnt there. I feel like saying its on the best weapons list is a gross misuse of the criteria when literally every other class gets relatively simple weapons that out DPS

  2. When you said Shadowflame Knife might be a surprise at #8 I thought "Hah yeah, most people would think it's a lot better, right?" My jaw dropped when you instead said most people wouldn't think it's that good at all. This weapon is so useful I was honestly in disbelief when I saw a buff in 1.4.5. My most recent playthrough was on the hardmode-start seed and I planned to do mage for once as I got to skip pre-HM progression… but for the Queen Slime I'm ngl I still just used the S. Knife bro it's just that good I can't just not use it even when intending to go mage eventually

  3. i normally use the shadowflame knife to kill duke if i plan to do him before mechs, good range, easy to use so i can focus on dodging, high rof so it can break bubbles and hitting the sharks accidentally doesnt gut your dps

  4. You don't understand how hard I cheered when I heard the sentence "The best weapon in Terraria, better than the Terra Blade, is the Rainbow Rod"
I've loved this weapon for so long, I grab it in pretty much every playthrough even when I'm not a mage because it just does everything so perfectly. It's so easy to use, has great utility, looks awesome and is immensely fun to use in my opinion, stays relevant basically up until nebula glaive (unless you grab the razorblade typhoon) (it's not brilliant for golem I found but it's usable)
Rainbow Rod genuinely carries hardmode mage from "usable, but every other class is kind of just better" to genuinely maybe the best class in the game for most of hardmode, only being outclassed by melee in a few scarce spots. My favourite weapon by FAR I'm so glad it turned up.

  5. The only weapons I'd say are overtuned are Terra Blade and Fishron drops (minus Tempest Staff). They truly make everything else optional.

  6. I love the blade staff. Used it before whip stacking was removed to go from blade staff to teraprism. It was dumb but I took it as far as I could and I love this weapon

  7. The flinx staff seems way out of place here, I'm not even gonna argue it power, it just doen't seem for me like summon choice makes much of a difference
Entirety of prehardmode up to skeletron just comes down to smaking things to death with snaprthorn and no matter what minions i use it never had any influence, outcome is just that bosses are too weak to pose a threat
and it is inconviniet to get in my opinion

  8. razorblade typhoon has been my favorite weapon since DF got added in like 1.2.2??? .4?? one of those.. its been like 8 years i dont remember , its sound, its ease of use, how it looks, the satisfying dps. love it
