Worked on an airport for 2.5 years. Any advice?

Man that looks amazing, i’ve never seen someone use stairs as airplane windows either

Air traffic control tower! Some have some really unique architecture so I’m sure it’d be a blast to build.

  3. Idea 1: start and landing locations for plans. So…. Exactly where do planes land? Obviously the runways… but…. Usually on runways you can’t just plop down on them in the middle or wherever you want. You usually have an indicator on the bottom of the runways indicating where landing and taking off is allowed to happen.

Idea 2: emergency medical/fire services. In the event of a failed landing, explosion, failed takeoff, etc there is usually an onsite area specifically for the airport that houses emergency services that are able to handle fires, debris, etc. so one of those would add a lot of realism.

Idea 3: maintenance! One of my favorite aspects…. Usually there are small carts that can be used by workers so that they can drive around the airports different hangars, tend to luggage, look into security concerns, etc so a bit of those here and there would add a lot as well.

Bonus!: different size aircraft or at least different types would help a lot! For instance smaller propeller based aircraft would be nice to see in hangars!

Airport tarmac typically have many irregular patches of asphalt due to weathering and reparations. This can add some “lore” and life to the outside. Also, compose the ground with e.g. stone, andesite, and gravel for a more varied look over the monochrome stone look. I would also include some patches of vegetation, typically closer to the runway for a more lively place. And if you are able to, perhaps a terminal building that curves/or goes 45 degrees, since this build has a lot of straight edges, you’re onto something on pic #3. This will get you a long way. The main building has a flat roof and the look can be really lifted with a wavy/slanted roof.
