it indicates lava immunity, just like the air bubbles indicate how long you have underwater before you start taking drowning damage. when the flames go out, you’ll take lava damage. the flames could just as easily be coming up, probably because you’ve equipped Terraspark boots or other accessory which grants the 7 seconds lava immunity.
