I hate the fishing minigame. It's unfair when the fish moves way faster than you can move the green bar. Many times you have to see into the future to catch a fish… Is there any way to make the bar move up and down faster? (Or to remove the minigame altogether xd)

Yea there’s a fishing mod where you can make it instant or whatever you want. If you’re playing on pc.
The green bar gets bigger with each level, so fishing tends to get notably easier if you slug it out on easier fish until level 6+. Fishing up in the mountain lake is my preference for this, as the fish are more consistent and some of the easier fish are up there.
You can also level the skill with a mass of crab pots if you really can’t manage it, and fishing tackle is an option later on to make it easier, if you want to progress in other ways first. If you’re really bad at it, you might still have some trouble with the harder fish, but I think most players should be able to catch most fish if they’re fully kitted out level 10 fishing.
And there are mods to make fishing easier or automatic, if you’re on a moddable platform.
The bar gets bigger with skill, certain foods, better rods, bait and tackle. By the end of the game it can be about half the size of the overall fishing area, making the mini game trivial. You just need to grind xp on easier fish or crab pots until you get there

No offense, but it is “fair” lol. That’s what makes it a mini-game: having an element of challenge
