Hello,
First playthrough, Year 2. I'm currently on level 80-something in the mines. Those bloody flying skulls are out and about, and I ended up losing all my health.
How the hell am I supposed to fight off the skulls? I've made good progress in the mines this winter, I get through 5-10 levels at a time so I can unlock the lift. But the skulls are so difficult.
I was using the Level 6 insect sword but I lost it when I passed out in the mines. I'm currently using the Level 7 mallet. I have 5 combat points, I think.
Any advice is much appreciated, TIA! ๐

Bring lots of cheese! I always place it right next to my weapon on the hotbar, so its super easy to select.
I usually try to trigger one at a time. Sword would be go-to to just spam the attack while with hammers you have to time it and not just spam attacks ๐
bring food to heal ๐
You could craft a staircase and skip such a level.
You could come back another day, shuffling the floors.
Those skulls should only appear rarely when a floor gets replaced with a dungeon floor, and in the quarry mine.
Bring a decent amount of food with you, time pauses when you’re eating so you can out-heal any and all damage if you stay calm. Most people use cheese or salads, but anything will work.
Try to keep all the skulls on one side of you so you’re not getting surrounded. I find these easier to kill with a sword because of the wide arc in which you can hit enemies when using one. You can get your insect head back by visiting Marlon in the adventures guild (provided you haven’t passed out from low health again since).
Once you get to floor 90 you will get a sword that’s a decent upgrade, so stick with it!
Well, food is the answer if you die.
I just run to the end collecting all the skulls and then eat and whack blindly until all are dead.
Or try to aggro them one by one and time your hits so that you hit them before they hit you. If you take damage, try hitting them a bit earlier the next time.
save up money and buy a better weapon
That weapon sucks, you should have got something better deeper in the normal mines?
Get the infinity blade and keep swiping it when they come at you. Then just bring as many goat cheeses as you can to heal yourself.
Theyโre quite fast, so you have to swing a little earlier than you think you should. Once you crack the timing, theyโre a breeze. And good practice for another enemy that will come later ๐
Swipe and step back helps a lot. Activate one at a time.
Would you consider running? I was doing 5 levels at time like you looking for the lifts, and I ran a lot or exited the mines when I noticed my health was really low. I got by with the insect skull weapon though. you’re getting a new weapon soon, so maybe focus on getting to level 120 quickly, and restart the mines when you get it. then you can focus on the monsters.
Get a good weapon, eat food
I think a sword works best for handling these guys, but maybe that’s a skill issue on my end.
Try to your absolute best to only trigger one at a time. It can definitely be tough if they’re all clustered together.
You gotta be prepared to attack when they come back around after you knock them back the first time. They’ll fly around and come back, then they won’t go as far. Make sure you’re facing the direction they’ll come back from, it helps. This is why triggering multiple can be tricky.
Food. Lots of food.
>!Go practice in the quarry cave, where you get the golden scythe. They’re in there as well- it’s where I learned to handle them!<
