I used to love building in plains biomes, with varied biomes surrounding it. Flat land for your base, plenty of uninterrupted landscape for your farms… Now, it's impossible to find somewhere even remotely flat without hours of terraforming.

I like to use Chunkbase/MCSeedMap to choose where to build, but even now it can't pick up on the fact that plains biomes are so… bumpy.

yes, 50% of every freaking project is just smoothing random 6-block wide “hills”

  2. Yeah, it sucks and it removes more of the realism from the game. The real world has flat areas too. I guess nobody from Mojang has ever been to Chicago or Amsterdam

I prefer when the plains were flat biomes, and I also miss the continents

it actually has become easier to build in forests after clearing them

I am not filling those random holes and those inconvenient dirt boulders to start building anything

I also dislike how there’s always ine of those noodle caves making huge crack in the ground

1.18 terrain has been awesome, but it sure has its downsides

we need a biome called the flatlands or something where its areas in plains without a ton of elevation

  7. Thing is, it’s not the BIOME gen that broke.

C&C decoupled terrain gen from biome gen. Before, the latter controlled the former- now, the former controls the latter (alongside other factors, such as temperature).

So plains used to force the terrain to be a flat plain. Now, plains are *placed* where the terrain is roughly flat enough and the right climate… However the terrain gen was a rough job (see the dozens of features that are now missing) so true flat areas are basically never generated.

  8. I’ve been trying to find a mod to fix that with no luck it really ruins the game for me. Have to go into creative cause I’m just not willing to deal with it in survival anymore
