1 luck from eel and lucky day -> on average one auto petter every ~900 floors you see (the ones you skip by holes don’t count).
So before you’ve seen 3000 floors I wouldn’t complain too much.
Solution: more stairs, more luck (or more runs)
For example: maxed out luck at desert festival with 1k stairs: average of 5 auto petters

Maybe get lucky rings if you can and eat lucky lunch, Gold lucky lunch or magic rock candy if you can, I’ve had treasure rooms one after the other this way. Also you can substitute ginger ale (preferably Gold) for coffee as if you’re mainly using staircases to descend at first you don’t really need speed

Here’s the math on your odds of getting one on a neutral luck day (it’s rare to get a true neutral day) with a “normal” build and using staircases to go to floor 300.
Luck:
– neutral day (+0)
– magic rock candy (+5)
– ginger ale (+1)
– lucky ring (+1)
– special charm (+0.025)
So with this build, there’s:
– 8.25% chance of a floor being a treasure room, which is about ~24 treasure rooms.
– there’s 6 guaranteed treasure chests
– in one run, you can expect about 30 chests.
This all comes out to be about 1-2 runs to get an autopetter.
The biggest takeaway for me is, there’s a huge difference between spicy eel and rock candy.
