In my 14 years of playing Minecraft, something happened today that genuinely blew my mind.
I generated a random world on Bedrock completely by chance. I explored for a bit and thought: “Wait… this is actually insanely beautiful.” It looked somewhat familiar, so I searched the seed online out of curiosity.
Turns out someone had already found and posted it on r/minecraftseeds over a year ago, and I had already upvoted and saved it for myself.
Out of BILLIONS of possible worlds, I randomly generated the SAME SEED I had stashed away in my archives and forgotten about. I know statistically it can make sense, but psychologically it feels weirdly uncanny… like a total waste of legendary luck. Can someone do the math for me?

I mean it seems almost impossible. There has to be an explanation
Never tell me the odds
You’ve compared both seeds and it’s the exact same number? I feel like I see slight differences. Also statistically it is practically impossible so I highly doubt it.
Are you sure it’s the same seed as 14 years ago. It looks similar but not the exact same.
And trust me, there are a lot more useless life lotteries that you can “win” than this
Ain’t no way
Honestly this isn’t that unbelievable. With how many posts there are on r/minecraftseeds, and with how many people are generating worlds, and especialy the fact that the seed is only on the order of 10 mil, it is unsurprising someone found a duplicate world.
Hey, so bedrock generates the same world if it’s your first new world. Sorry to be the bearer of disappointing news
Not to downplay OP, but anyone with basic knowledge of stats or seeds would claim this to be statistically impossible. There’s most likely some bug causing it to pull form generated worlds.
Like 6 months ago I had a bedrock world going, it got corrupted, I was so sad. Then, when I made a new world, it was the exact same seed as my corrupted workd. I’m thinking there’s a bug maybe??
Minecraft Bedrock has a seed pool for the first worlds created. If you and the person sharing it are from the first world you created, the chances of getting a seed are higher; otherwise, it’s a really slim chance.
this is impossible btw
what the fuck so you generated the SAME WORLD TWICE??? RANDOMLY?? what the fuck is that, 4 294 967 296 seeds each, so a 1 in 18.446 QUINTILLIOn chance??????>
maybe its a bedrock starter seed
Extremely unlikely obviously but you guys have to remember that bedrock is using 32 bit integer seeds not 64 like Java. Means it’s “only” 2.1 billion different possibilities. (64 bit is over 9 quintillion)
maybe its a bedrock starter seed they are 40 preselected seeds that you are guaranteed o load up on your first world
Perhaps you can win the lottery lottery with this luck!
which version?
Can’t wait to see this post on r/theydidthemath lmao
This is a starter seed
The probability of randomly generating two identical worlds is **1 in 18.4 quintillion**
it’s a starter seed.
19 generations of luck spent on this tell your grandkids why there so unlucky
