In Minecraft 26.2 Snapshot 7 they “Added the ability to easily play with your friends through peer-to-peer, even when you’re not on the same local network”, essentially making Essential mod redundant.

This mod is infamous for it’s monetization practices and bloat.

  2. it is a feature that should have been released with 1.0, better late than never i guess

They’re not dead just yet, the entire modding scene would have to move to that version first.

  4. So this is a pretty big change in terms of long term versioning for mods.

If the peer-to-peer changes works with mods, what benefit does 26.1 have over 26.2 in terms of being the ‘next’ major modding version?

I’ll never hate on essential, because its the reason I was able to get back in contact with two of my friends after years of lost contact lol
