For a cozy game, I don’t think cheating would be cool. There is enough of that in the crappy real world. But, I suppose as with all things Stardew Valley – you do not HAVE to do it. Perhaps those that never cheat could be rewarded in someway? That would be interesting….

I just read an article where he said he was hesitant to even add allowing romancing certain characters via divorce (like Caroline and Robin) because even that might feel “too real” to players.
He was talking about it in the context of saying that he’s going a bit darker and creepier for Haunted Chocolatier because that’s a different vibe.
But this is saying apparently he wants chaos cheating in SDV?
Well golly now I don’t know what to believe, lol!

I absolutely hate that there are items that are locked behind marriage and that causes people to divorce just to get them. It’s why I made a mod specifically to counteract that whole thing and make those custom items/map things obtainable in a different way. Honestly if CA added more punishments for cheating I would be really happy cause fuck NTR and fuck Cheating. I’m on the Caroline is the wizards daughter train and will never think otherwise.

I feel like this is too much. I know people want drama and stuff, but I don’t think adding a cheating mechanic adds anything beneficial to the game. I’d rather add more interactions, such as people acknowledging your marriage and parents referring to you as an in law. I don’t know, I just feel like cheating is a really scummy thing to do and it shouldn’t be promoted in games.
