i got the thing to stay up i just need to figure out how to get it to do down with a pressure plate to get my villagers in here. with the end product not looking horrendous.

Easy, but you cant place the preassure plate directly in front because it would power it by qc. If that is what you want, an alrernative would be an observer facing down with string on top.
