This specific patch of corruption is now contained and won’t spread unless vines grow or a corruptor spits at the nearby terrain, the big problem is the hard mode V that’s about to shart over one half of your world.
Personally I like to use scarab bombs to dig tunnels to protect my bases, as well as any farms or biomes I don’t want to lose to the Corruption/Hallow. A lot of players don’t bother doing this anymore though since the clentaminator can quickly purify large areas and the jungle getting hit is less of an issue than it used to be.
Ultimately it’s up to you, do you want to spend some time farming scarab bombs to make hard mode maybe less of a hassle or do you want to rush towards a specific NPC so you can spend 1-2 platinum to try and cure it?

You’re not in hard mode yet so basically all the effort you’ve made to prevent it will not matter. The second you do enter hard mode the corruption will form a V shape coming from the bottom of the world all the way to the top and corruption spread will be even faster. You aren’t really going to effectively prevent corruption spread until you’ve gotten the clentaminator. Your best bet is to separate places of interest to you from the rest of your world by digging a 4 (or 3, unsure) wide space across, fully disconnecting it from the rest of the world to prevent corruption spread. Leaving any connection will just allow the corruption to eventually spread there. Your base is most important as NPC’s will move out if the corruption creeps too close.

Enjoy the first playthrough :). It’s a magical feeling. As of the recent update I enjoyed using the digtoise to dig two 6 bloc wide shafts on either side of my bases to contain corruption. New digtoise is key, set and forget and the. You have easy access to caves all over your world. Then just dig a little horizontal tunnel as you’ve done here. Everywhere else will eventually get corrupted until you put in serious work eliminating the corruption entirely.

It’s okay, some people find it out the hard way
