I like the auto shooting ones like the arrow and the ice rod. The arrow is my favorite by far. I like the fairy too but it’s not really necessary if you bring enough food, big hits are still big hits and by the time you have trinkets you should have a ton of good food to manage your health.
Depends on your play style and what you’re trying to achieve.
I’ve only ever regularly used the fairy, the frog, and the parrot.
If you’re just trying to go as deep as possible in Skull Cavern, I like the frog. Saves a few seconds when you can let him manage the serpents while you look for stairs. Bad for monster hunter achievements though, because his kills don’t count, or if you’re farming something specific (like dragon’s teeth), because he chomps the lurkers before you can get them.
Fairy for Qi’s hungry challenge or farming drops. Arguably, she’s the best all-around, since she basically negates bomb/shaft drop damage.
If you’re saving up for the goddamn clock, ✨money parrot all the way✨. Monster musk + jumpy spider floors makes bank very fast.
I love the ice rod, personally. I got lucky and found a perfect ice rod so it gives me enough time to either run or attack first! the frog is really nice too but I stopped using it when I learned the monsters that are eaten won’t count for the eradication goals…
this happened to me with my golden spur lol. got the mastery, and then next day was green rain day and bam, spur. it’s perfect for my crit build so i took it and ended the day before i found a reason to have to restart
looove the ice rod, and the fairy cuz i hate filling up my inventory with food. the frog is SUPER cute but probably my least favorite because i have no issue killing monsters and i want the loot 🙁 never used the spur or parrot egg (i dont struggle w money cuz i have a System), and ive not regularly used the quiver but it seems fine! id just prefer to make the hits myself ig
The parrot egg (at least in my save file) is great especially if you can find a perfect one since it racks up gold from killing monsters really nicely.
the parrot egg paired with the dangerous skull cavern mine is a great combo for passing time and making money while stuck in the 10mil golden clock grind! and the basilisk paw is a requirement for the first pass of the dangerous mines imo. those putrid ghosts can suck it
