I started to dread going into the Caverns.. i barely can find any iridium to upgrade my tools.

The combat on mobile is rough, it auto attacks everything and movement is very limited to the point that every slime hits you for half hp before you can move on.

Only way i found how to survive 20 lvs for far is with a lot of food and healing after every level, ive been stuck because of this for a long time..

Ive never played mobile so i dont have any great advice, just a thought. After you kill 1,000 slimes, Gil gives you the Slime Charmer ring that prevents damage from slimes. Maybe that would help a little bit? Spend some time killing slimes in the regular mines where it’s not as dangerous? Idk.

Bluetooth a controller. So. Much. Easier.
I’ll be honest, I’m kinda old. I didn’t even know I could do this…my 17 y.o daughter showed me and it was a game changer for playing on mobile. Oh and you can take auto attack off in settings. HTH
Also – what kind of weapon are you using? Do you have the galaxy sword yet?

Do not believe the tutorial that tells you that auto attack is a good idea. Set your controls for joystick and two buttons, then use the option to set your buttons to where you are comfortable with them. This will mean a lot of tapping the screen, but it will make things so much easier in the long run. No more getting locked into attacking when you can retreat and heal instead.

  4. Once you get the iriduim blade the combat with auto attack gets much easier, the only issue i personally run into is the bugs and downed mummies because it tries to auto attack them, so try to stay away from them when in heavy combat if you can. Getting the crusader or bug killer enchantment on your sword will help in one of these problems. Also walking back and forth can help to, attack, back up, then walk back towards what you are killing, that helps alot with making sure you actully hit enemies, especially the serpents before they deal damage. The slime ring is also really good to have until your confident you won’t get hit as often.

I have only ever played on mobile! Auto attack is ridiculous. If you go into your settings there is a drop down directly below the save back up button. Those are your control options. I like to use the option that has joystick, tap to move, and buttons. Make sure not to select the one that has (weapons) that’s the auto attack.

Also in settings, make your date box and tool bar size smaller. It gives you more screen space but you can also see more of your tools at once and have to scroll less.

Finally, you need a ton of staircases, cheese/meals with buffs, bombs, and a good sword. Use a crystallarium to get a ton of jade and trade it at the dessert trader for staircases(I think on Sundays). I don’t go to skull cavern with less than 60 staircases.

Various bombs increase your chances of a hole to jump in and drop several floors. If you haven’t gotten a Galaxy sword, take a prismatic shard to the desert and stand in that triangle looking thing to the left of the cave opening. It will give you a galaxy sword.

Salmence on YouTube has an awesome skull cavern guide.

You can change your movement and attack settings on mobile to make it easier.

I personally had the hardest time going from auto-attack on mobile to normal mode on switch. IMH opinion and experience, it’s actually helpful. Iirc running into them/cornering the mobs was the most effective if killing ‘em all is what you’re going for 😅

but at the end of the day to get really deep you really don’t want to be doing much (if any) combat at all. You want to have all your speed boosts and bombs and find a ladder or a hole asap without having to fight too many monsters at all. I usually run around dropping bombs and only really fight if it’s absolutely necessary

    Good luck!

  8. I just dealt with that horrible auto attack on my phone until I could level up my weapons, now auto attack is amazing. I went back to an old Xbox save recently and was moderately annoyed I had to attack on my own again 🤣

I had that problem too don’t worry 😭 all you need is a strategy….!! First get in normal mines to floor 41 keep reseting and collect a lot of iron and keep slaying dust sprites to craft bombs 💣 gather atleast 75 bombs and if you have crystalarium put some jades and rubies in it jades for staircases you need 35 of em and rubies for spicy eel atleast 15…!! And complete the rock crabs monster goal of killing 60 rock crabs to get a crabshell ring which will increase your defence by +5 then head to skull cavern skip 30 floors save 5 if you get any monster floors and start using bombs you’ll easily reach floor 70-85 there iridium spawns more i come every run with 180-200 iridium ores for food carry salad with spicy eel and only descend when its a good luck day

Store and Use bombs particularly Mega Bombs and Bombs, on good ammounts of mineable ore, go on great luck/good luck days, get a good sword like Lava Katana (buyable, but be aware if Galaxy Sword via Prismatic Shard), if Desert Festival: pick Rare Fruit + Uncomfortably Hot Sauce at the chef for Luck and Movement Speed buff, get food for healing

I’m on iPhone and I was also looking up how to deal with skull cavern. With the comments about using a Bluetooth controller seems like a good idea to me. I just tried to connect my switch controller and worked! So I’m going to try this.

I really like playing Stardew on mobile for a number of reasons but a few things just don’t work. So using a Bluetooth controller for some things seems like the best of both worlds. Hope you find something that works for you.
