Obscure Terraria Items that are Actually Good.

In this Terraria video, I’m looking at some of the most obscure and odd Terraria items that I think have a ton of potential to be used regularly. I ended up really liking every item, so I hope you do too 🙂

  1. Spelunker flares do have the purpose that you mentioned, but on that same note, spelunker glowsticks do the job better, because you can just hold a glowstick for a moment without even needing to throw it, and it will light stuff up. It won't need 2 slots for the gun and the flare.

  2. I tried out Shimmer Arrows once. I liked them well enough…but not as much as the Musket or Undertaker. I would use them again next time I do a bows-only run.

  3. I don't see the flask of nanites being that good for farming events/invasions, because I spend most of those events trying to kill as many enemies as possible for drops, and especially since the affected enemies tend to be the less dangerous ones, I think having them run away from me is going to be counterproductive since they'll die slower and take up more space in the spawn slots.
Maybe good for something like hardcore where safety is paramount, but I don't want to be dealing with enemies running away all the time, if I have a terrablade I think I can handle them coming at me faster so that I can actually get my moon stones and Neptune's shell.

  4. I hope you'll talk about Roller Skates. They're very powerful because they allow faster movement than shoes and still provide the flying ability of wings without taking up an accessory slot. Additionally, they can be obtained early in the game with a bit of luck.

  5. About the spelunker flares
The spelunker potion is very easy to craft, you don't need to have a flare gun, you don't need to find the skeleton merchant at night and it does everything better.
It doesn't just light up the area with a particle effect it clearly shows you what is hiding in the dark.

  6. "better than ichor" and has no use against bosses, really makes you wonder why it isn't used

edit: no one's gonna fish for one of the most obscure fish just to get a blood moon brah

  7. "you should use shimmer arrows" no, just don't do it bro, bows act like a worse guns at this point of progression, the only use is for crowd control with jesters/hellfires (yh, just go to hell and break some pots), so suggesting using them, when you can get a musket/undertaker for free at first 10 minutes in the game, is a bad idea.

  8. the flask of nanites is just unfortunately timed
most of the enemies you would struggle with at that point in the game are immune to confusion

  9. I have 2000h in terraria and been playing since whenever the crimson came out and I had no clue the flask of nanites was a thing lol I'll try it out next playthrough

  10. I think calling shimmer arrows pre-boss is a bit misleading
Finding the shimmer is gonna take more effort than just beating a boss
And you'll probably want to have the demolitionist and some money + a good pickaxe before you do it, plus explore at least one side of your world fully
By that time you're typically post boss

  11. On flasks.
1: They are a bit of a waste and super overkill for normal enemies and the only events where I would consider them useful are the post-Plantera moons because of the high amount of mini bosses.
2: Because of 1 but also just in general it's almost always better to just deal more damage and kill enemies faster than it is to make them run away from you.

The only usecase I could potentially see is in hardcore if you want to farm enemies in dangerous events/biomes but you want to avoid those as much as possible anyways so…

  12. My thoughts on the items

    Nanite Flasks 5/10
The Ichor Flask is just better in many more situations with and way less enemies that are immune to Ichor than to Confusion (I could be wrong), not only that but Ichor is obtainable at the start of hardmode. And if you're gonna multiclass and want to have this debuff for whatever reason then I'd recommend using Nanite Bullets instead.

    Shimmer Arrows 9.5/10
This is one that I've actually used in every one of my ranger playthroughs since the shimmer released. The different arc of the arrow isn't even much of a hindrance, the only things that could be bad about it is the fact that it doesn't have any debuffs like Fire or Frostburn and that it can't shoot as far as normal arrows.

    Spelunker Flares 6/10
Basically just a better and brighter version of the Spelunker Glowsticks and Spelunker Lantern (or whatever that light pet is called)

    Stink Potion 3/10
Besides the one use case mentioned… It is not underrated it's correctly rated

(The items with the same ratings are the ratings I agree with)

  13. I really like the Shimmer arrows especially when using it as ammo for the Blood Rain Bow from the blood moon event. Since it converts it into those into its own projectile, you basically get like unlimited strong ammo for it. This lowkey carried me in my Zenith Skyblock run

  14. About 60% of Terraria’s enemies are immune to Confusion (including every single boss), the main kind that are vulnerable are standard Fighter AI enemies that are pretty easy to ignore or just kill. I would still recommend Cursed Flames or Ichor – Cursed Inferno does DOT and increases knockback for better crowd control and Ichor just improves your damage the most. On top of the fact that those flasks are available immediately after Wall of Flesh, rather than post Plantera like the Nanites, I just don’t get the use case of filtering mainly weak or simple enemies that you probably could have just killed easily with Post-Plantera gear.

  15. Nanite Bullets. They are much cheaper and easier to obtain than Chlorophyte Bullets, with similar effects.

As someone who only uses Chlorophyte Ammo for bosses, Nanite Ammo is a good substitute for mobbing, events and the Post-Plantera Dungeon.
