Can You Beat Stardew Valley Using Only the Traveling Cart?

i set out to answer the age old question: can you beat stardew valley with just the traveling cart?

and surprisingly, it was not a straight forward yes or no answer.

i did trick myself into thinking it was going to be easier than it actually was. so enjoy my pain and suffering.

    the gambler's fallacy of "the more mystery boxes i get the better my chance of getting what i want" in this case is true, when the seed of the world is generated all 2 million+ that a 32 bit system can handle are predetermined so opening the non traveling cart boxes did help you

    just so you know, maybe i missed this being mentioned or breaking the rules or something, but when you need wine for the community center, you can use any wine you make, you don't just need the basic wine, so one of the ones you used for profits would have worked fine

    I would say as follows:
    Simple answer – No. There is no way to buy money from the travelling cart.

    If alternatively, we allow making money by buying things and selling them, but otherwise needing to donate items bought directly from the cart, then still no.
    The default bundles contain quality crops, which can't be purchased so not way to do it.
    The remixed bundles offer false hope, where they are selected randomly. But really this is some being fixed, some being randomly selected from a pool. And with random items for some.
    Unfortunately, for the pantry you get either quality crops which will require some quality crops, or you get rare crops where you get either ancient fruit or sweet gem berry.

    This means the only way to have it possible is if you are allowed to buy the seeds and grow the crop and those crops can be. So we can reframe it to be if we were to wipe out everything except the travelling cart, your home, the shipping bin, your tools, and the land of the farm, and your starting 500g, is it possible? ( (i.e. starting out with an empty farm with no trees/weeds/crops/etc, ideally done with a mod to remove them, and no access to the town, just to cindersap for the cart, and no cave either).
    Well we saw you can buy cranberries with that 500g. That allows you to get 750 g even from a bad harvest.
    However, you are still stuck at the Geologist's Bundle for the standard bundles as that requires quzrts, earth crystal, frozen tear, and fire quartz which you can't get.

    Going to remixed, it looks like there is a chance. Going through each room and the possible bundles, there is at least 1 combination which works for all rooms. So ther eis a chance, but a slim one. e.g. looking at the boiler room alone, there is only a 2% chance you can get it from the cart. The bulliten board is even worse, being only 0.76%.
    Overall (including the other rooms) there is only a 0.000034% or 1 in 2 970 000 chance of getting a seed that allows it.

    This means if you check one seed a second, on average it will take you 34 days to find one.
    Fortunatley, the seed is a 64 bit integer so it shuold have one such seed. You just need a seed finder to find one.

    Slight update to my previous post.
    Firstly, can you please retry this with seed 144391.
    You should be able to purchase everything you need from the cart except the money and the quality crops you need to grow.

    From my prior post, I made a few errors when checking. I mistakenly thought 2 bundles were invalid when they were not because you don't need to get all the items.
    This drastically improves the chances to 1 in 297 000.
    Quickly setting up a mod to run through seeds to check, after a few hurdles I got it working.
    I stopped it running after a 10 s or so, and got seeds:
    144391, 423409, 463901, 532381, 626160, 1277007, 1325618, 1512390, 1527073, 2010464, 2065685 and 2247742.
    But there are plenty more to find.

    i feel like i would have allowed quest tickets to be gotten, but only if you use items from the cart to do the quests.

    that said you aren't going to redo this and i totally respect that.
