Amateur Tries to Play Stardew Valley

It's refreshing to see someone who enjoys the fishing in this game, I'm not very good at it myself but I certainly enjoyed the farming. I remember putting a heck of a lot of patience into getting a peach tree, I just really wanted one. I was going through a phase where I wanted a peach tree in my own back garden, until I learned how much work they are. 😀

Pro tip – DO NOT throw away/sell sap. You'll need it a lot for crafting later

The algae quest was for Lewis! The problem you had is quests from that board have a two day time limit, the day you took the quest and the day after. So you were right, just too late haha

There is no right way to play Stardew Valley however as a prolific Stardew fisherman myself I find the easy money making early game is actually small farm since every plant needs watering which takes up energy and instead use said energy fishing. The best area for which is the mountain lake (up by the mine) in spring but catching fish from anywhere is a solid daily money maker. Also the bubbles don't indicate special fish, just an abundance of them upping the catch rate in that spot

Also also wiki is totally not cheating, my sister and I have full spreadsheets for this game

try to unlock grass crafting recipe before you get animals and build fences over them so it's infinite grass for animals

Going into the mines as a group is actually much more fun in SDV… and I mean all mines. Foraging is a much quicker activity as a group too! Especially for special days; please excuse my poor attempts to keep from as many spoilers as possible, here.

Ive been spoiled on mods with this game, cant go back to the regular anymore

I have some advice is to not blindly follow the main quests (the ones that show on the yellow exclamation on the upper part of the screen), they don’t expire and don’t give many hints but some of them like the coop (raising animals) is quite expensive and the animals aren’t unlocked at once they require different buildings and upgrades, silo’s should be built first after collecting enough clay. There are some RPG elements, dungeon/monster fighting stuff. I focus on upgrade my skills and with Farming, water or hoeing doesn’t raise exp only Harvesting does. It is a bit tricky since I see a lot of people grow a lot of things in first spring thinking that is how it works. In this game there is hidden RNG. The way Concernced ape went around this is nothing I seen in other games like this on mobile. Each crop has a “Base” value which is how much it will sell for as is, regular, Silver, gold, and Iridium. When they get processed in to products the price increased but the star quality don’t really matter. In farming level this affects how much EXP you earn. Each season has specific crops that are money makers and I think Multi harvest crops make the most. In my case I grow the things I like! I am no gardener in real life but the game allow me to grow things and I like how the crops change or progress as it matures and seeing the cute little berries or crop sprites that look like the actual thing is neat. Even the flowers are really detailed.

Also one thing I noticed from watching new players on YT is do they think that buying food from the saloon the only way to get energy? I see alot of people don’t even look Iong enough In the crafting menu to check that it’s easy to craft field snack by saving the seeds of three trees and not just for planting. Also in the summer they completely ignore foraging for blackberries on the ground and The blue round things on some bushes. When I had the forager Lv. 5 profession I got double the berries to stockpile and higher level I think gives purple star quality. Berries for me are easiest to save for mining, gifting and energy. They also ignore the energy and Health stats when hovering over some food item and their green bar is like in the red. I used to play pokemon on the Gameboy that had health bars when the energy is low it’s drink potions or go to health center but I never heard of people letting their pokemon pass out. In stardew people just pass out when they could eat foraged items to gain energy. Maybe these gamers never played these kind of games? I used to play Old school RuneScape and we had to do it the old way collected wood to build a fire, and then find the food source go back to cook before eating it. Yes I did die and respawned a ton, but cooking means finding a kitchen or making a fire to cook and to raise level. Not sure if any one remembers this.
