How do you organize your chests? How many do we need at least? Do you keep it in a barn or just outside? Any tips will be appreciated.

I usually purchase a craft table and use 7 chests – I keep this one inside my house.
One for cooked items.
The ones I keep outside : I keep four chests for seeds, two chest for fruits/vegetables, two for fish/bait, one for items I may need while going out (tents, totems, etc) and store my tools. One chest for the caves/volcano/skull. One for barn/coop items, one for barn/coop items AFTER I place them in the machines (cheese, mayonnaise etc.) One for wine, one for jellies/dried items/fish eggs. One for sellable items.
You mean you guys don’t just throw absolutely everything in at random and make a new chest when you run out of space and then struggle to find what you’re looking for?

This is the one I used, it’s perfect for me. In the comments on that post they’ve labeled each chest for each season/category

At the **start of the game** I always have one for **craftables** (wood/stone/fiber/etc.) put next to a workbench, then next to it I put one with **ores** (not gems) so iron, coal, copper, etc that I can melt and put the bars in the same chest. I then put **4 next to my crop** area for each season’s crops and then close by i put **2 for the seeds** (spring/summer + fall/winter).
**When I can add more usually I end up with all of the above + the following:**
* 2 chests for fish (ocean+other regions)
* 1 chest for sea-like things (clams, oyster, etc.)
* 1 chest close to my house for my tools and utilities
* 1 chest for everything I forage
* 1 chest for flowers (close to beehives)
* 1 chest next to the door in the mines that I put food and monster parts in
* for each coop/barn i put 2 chest one with the egg/milk and one with the produce mayo/cheese
* 1 chest inside my house with decorations lol
* 1 chest close to the main exit of my farm with gifts i want to give
* 1 chest for wine + 1 to put the fruits (i do the same with preserve jars)
* 1 chest for trash that i put next to recycling machine
* 1 chest in the farm cave
* 1 chest next to the sea
* 1 chest next to the mountain lake
that’s the basic, after that If I accumulate to much stuff I start making more and separating things :’)
