  1. They just won’t produce anything for you to sell. They’ll be pissed off with you tho.

Check if there is any grass anywhere even like wild grass and cut it with a scythe. Mines should also have them

Get the grass starter recipe! It’s 1000g but pays for itself because you can make grass starter out of fiber

Your animals will be fine, just mad and won’t produce anything. But they can’t die from not feeding them

  5. A good thing to do is fill your silo and empty it often, storing it in a chest. I have 1over 2000 hay in my chest, so I can fill it as needed.

Beyond the people letting you know that Marnie sells hay at her shop (very cheap) once you get some grass going in the spring again place a lightning rod on a couple squares of it. The animals won’t be able to eat that square so it will continue to reproduce, preventing a complete dry patch.

Also when planting grass do small clumps scattered around, and possibly even keep the barn/coop door closed for an extra day or two to allow it to spread before unleashing the beasts

  7. Get two silos and try to stay stocked up during spring and summer! I get two silos and they usually feed off of the grass near their coop and I only have to use the silo hay if it’s a rainy day 🙂

  8. Nah, the animals will be fine. Just buy a lot of hay from Marinie then store them in the silo. When you have some extras just put em in the chest. Another option is planting grass starters .

Is this the same person complaining about hay every day despite being told what to do about it every time? Genuine question.

  10. Okay, so first: unless you’ve modded or something, your animals CANNOT starve. They may stop producing products and may lose happiness, but they CANNOT starve.
If you want to get hay, your best bet is to go to Marnie’s. She sells hay.
If you need to scavenge, you check out the lower levels of either Skull or normal Mines, especially on hard mode.
So don’t panic. Like most things Stardew, very little is permanent unless you want it to be.

  11. you will need 30 pieces of hay per animal in the winter marnie sells it for 50g a piece 1500g an animal for the winter this is why i recoment spending the 1000g for the grass starter recipe and keep and fill a chest with hay my cleaning out the silo every time it fills up tis will c over you for a LONG time esp if you plant grass which while slower then in the other months WILL grow in winter
