I really like that we're getting new functionality for the jukebox but the solution of a chest on top feels unnecessarily clunky. I think an internal UI/inventory would be a bit more intuitive, take up less space, and just give more build options because a chest on top isn't the best visually.

Threw together a quick mockup with more optional fluff like a progress slider, buttons, and some indicators for the currently playing song but it could literally just be a few inventory slots for discs.

(Reposted because I forgot to upscale the image so it was blurry oops)

  1. looks clean, i like how the inventory is just there at the bottom instead of a whole block on top. minecraft devs always overcomplicating things that could be a simple menu

I was just planning on making a mockup for this! Yes please!!! This would be so good and I pray they change it to work like this instead of the chest thing.

  3. This does make more sense when you call a device a jukebox, you expect to find more options. Otherwise it’s just a record/disc player.

Pretty sure this is part of a backpack mod actually, full on playlist with music discs inside the bag with a bag extension.

I was just talking with my wife about this. The juke box needs a “6 CD changer” type upgrade. When’s the last time you went to a bar and saw a jukebox with only one song, and a box of records sitting on top of it?

We need Mojang to give a rework to the jukebox again. As much as I like the chest on top thing, this is far more cleaner and fitting.

Would also make redstone contraptions using juke boxes a little more intuitive and give a means of pausing the music when you like

  8. This is leagues better than the current implementation imo. It aligns the jukebox with other blocks which accept items by giving it an inventory.

  9. This is so much better. I like what Mojang did but the chest on top looks odd. I’d love some sort of UI implementation similar to this instead
