Actually, everybody as far as I’ve seen has forgotten diamonds and emeralds, both of which would make sense because desert temples yield them. Also mummies irl would be burried with a lot of riches so it definitely makes sense if they rarely dropped emeralds or diamonds

As others have said, the simplest solution is make them drop sand. It will give incentive to make a farm for them since people have been ***begging*** for a renewable source of sand.
