Right now the sulfur spikes are essentially just reskinned dripstone. I’ve come up with some ideas to make them more distinct and unique.

First the basic things:

  1. Damage to mobs and players should be reduced.

  2. The ability to farm water and lava should be removed.

Now for the big idea!

Just like tipped arrows, you should be able to tip the sulfur spikes. You will do this by clicking on them with a potion, which will consume it. The sulfur spike will look damp and will start dripping.

While the sulfur spike is tipped, the following will happen:

  1. Mobs/players damaged by the sulfur spike will be inflicted with the potion effect, more damage having a longer duration. The effect will then be removed from the sulfur spike.

  2. Any mobs/players standing underneath the sulfur spike will periodically be inflicted with the potion effect for a few seconds. This will be visualised with dripping particles.

What do you think of these ideas? I like the way it expands on how potions can be utilised.

nah this kinda just pisses me off looking at it, it legitimately is just dripstone caves but yellow and red.

  2. I’m pretty sure they don’t currently have the ability to farm water and lava, or even to grow downward/upward, unlike dripstone

  3. This is the worst drop Mojang has made so far, and the worst update in a long time. I’ve been trying to be open minded about it, but this just feels so lazy.

Crazy how consistently players come up with better ideas than Mojang for their half baked updates. Like they make a whole new biome but it barely does anything new

  5. By the way I want to ask, is this a bad title for this post?

I’ve posted the same suggestion on r/minecraftsuggestions and it’s currently awaiting approval. I titled it differently from this one, with the title: “Potion tipping sulfur spikes (and other distinctions from dripstone)”. I feel like that’s a better title as it immediately tells the reader the main point of the post. Do you agree?

I don’t post a whole lot on Reddit so I haven’t really figured out the best ways to title my posts. Any tips would he appreciated.

Sulfur Spike dealing less damage sounds reasonable

It is not as hard as real dripstone irl

Speaking of Sulfur Cave, if they add a way to give us tipped arrows of Nausea would be good. It affects how mobs pathfind if hit by it, like real nausea

Can these sulfur spikes be used to funnel lava into cauldrons like regular dripstone can?
