it did, maybe too complicated for some people? idk maybe just for earlier game acsess like speedrunning

i think bedrock boats were always made without shovel

Parity with Java Edition. Boats over there didn’t use shovels so Bedrock players were unfairly spending more on their boats

It’s just unnecessarily complicated – right now you can go from two logs to eight wood to one boat with three wood left over.
With the shovel, you go from two logs to eight wood, to six wood plus four sticks, to five wood plus two sticks plus one shovel, to one boat plus two sticks. That’s four crafting steps rather than two, but ultimately you still need roughly the same input ingredients, so the gameplay to acquire it is the same, you just end up using the crafting interface extra times for no gain.

It made zero sense

boats should use the full 3×3 crafting grid with wood, 2 wood for 4 sticks + 2 wood = 2 shovels, thats 4 and then 5 for the boat
